Getting Started

Ceph is an open-source storage solution known for delivering high performance, scalability and reliability utilizing a distributed storage cluster with interfaces for block, object and file level storage. Oracle Linux provides Ceph as a technology preview for Oracle Linux 6 and 7 with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (Release 3) and Oracle OpenStack for Oracle Linux Release 2.0.

Steps to set up yum repository

Oracle Linux 7

  1. Download and copy yum configuration file by running the following commands as root:
    # cd /etc/yum.repos.d
    # wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/beta/public-yum-ol7-ceph-beta.repo 
  2. If you do not have an Oracle Linux 7 repository configured, Enable the ol7_latest,ol7_UEKR3, ol7_addons and ol7_optional_latest repositories for Oracle Linux 7. Please refer to http://public-yum.oracle.com/getting-started.html for details on how to enable Oracle Linux 7 repositories
  3. Enable the appropriate repository by editing the yum configuration file
    • Open the yum configuration file in a text editor
    • Locate the section in the file for the repository you plan to update from, e.g. [ol7_latest]
    • Change enabled=0 to enabled=1
You may be prompted to confirm the import of the Oracle OSS Group GPG key.

Oracle Linux 6

  1. Download and copy yum configuration file by running the following commands as root:
