Preface

Oracle Linux 6 Update 9 is released through Oracle eDelivery on DVD media that can be ordered on Oracle Store as a 3 DVD set. One DVD contains the installable image of the operating system, while the other two contain source code for included software released under an open source license.

Directory Layout

Most systems can be booted with the installation DVD.

Installation

To install Oracle Linux 6 Update 9 from DVD media:

  1. Insert the DVD, and boot

    Check that your system is configured to boot using the DVD device. You may need to change BIOS settings or select the boot device during the system POST.

  2. Select the "Install or upgrade an existing system" option

    Follow the on-screen instructions to deploy Oracle Linux!

Note

If you intend to use the graphical environment ensure that you select the "Desktop" option in the Software Package Selection window.
